The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) is an international panel study established in 2004 that collects socio-economic and biomedical life course data from people aged 50 and over (approx.160,000 to date) in almost 30 countries. It provides internationally comparable longitudinal microdata for scientific research and policy advice. As Europe's largest social science panel study and one of the major European research infrastructures in the field of social sciences, SHARE also has the legal form of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) since 2011.

The SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH (SBI) is the seat of the central coordination of SHARE and related scientific research. The SBI was founded in 2022 by the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB), the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Centre of Gerontology (DZA).

We are now seeking a motivated individual to join our team in an international and academically stimulating environment. We are offering an interesting and varied role with the opportunity to make a significant impact. The SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH (SBI) is looking for a

 

Student Assistant (f/m/d)

to support research projects within SHARE Germany (30-40h/month).

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support for various projects, e.g. survey research
  • Improvement of the SHARE infrastructure
  • Linking research to policy making

Your profile:

  • A general interest in survey data
  • Studying a related field, e.g. applied health sciences, social work, sociology, psychology, epidemiology, computer science, economics, statistics
  • Helpful skills (not mandatory): Stata, R, SPSS or a similar data analysis program, experience in the visualization of data
  • Some programming experience would be an asset
  • Good English and/or German language skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
