The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs in Germany published an expert report “Proposals for a reform of the statutory pension insurance” („Vorschläge für eine Reform der gesetzlichen Rentenversicherung"). SHARE managing director Axel Börsch-Supan, who is a member of the Ministry’s Scientific Advisory Board, was the lead author of the report. The analysis, which is informed by SHARE data, aims to initiate urgent pension policy reforms. Among other things, it is proposed to link retirement age to life expectancy to ensure the sustainability of Germany’s pension system.
