In 2020, the WHO Regional Committee for the Western Pacific endorsed the Regional Action Plan on Healthy Ageing for the Western Pacific. Recognizing that population ageing is a global trend and accelerating, the action plan was developed to support WHO member states in taking early action to prepare for population ageing. It focuses on health and social transformation to enable people to age in good health, receive tailored community supports and contribute meaningfully to society throughout their lives. The report employs SHARE research for evidence on the impact of socioeconomic status on ageing trajectories.
